Not sure what it is about this game but it's completely scratched my Subnautica itch.
It's conceptually rather similar to the original Subnautica. You are a voiceless, anonymous entity (in this case a robot, the last working robot on waterworld Earth long after humanity fled to the stars and/or expired). You learn about the world through silent exploration, adventure, finding texts and audio clips to steadily unravel the story. Whereas in Subnautica your "base" (or bases) are your home, here it's your ship, but it's very much a living, breathing thing that you defend, upgrade, customize. Like the original Subnautica there are a lot of open ended game mechanics that allow you to approach the game however you prefer. I absolutely love it, and have wasted far too much time in it.
Anybody else trying it out?
