Warm Seagate Iron Wolf pro 28tb $549 - $609

I was just looking at some refurb HC530 14TBs that were about $275/each, so this 28tb is a great price considering it's new + warranty. Have to wonder if these would even work in my EOL Synology though, those 14TBs are the biggest I ever ran before.

Be nice to backup my truenas on one of these, stuff it offsite somewhere or a fireproof safe.

I am in such need of Data, I legit almost think I should get it for $609. Going to head to microcenter and see if they have some left. Then when you need data you want all of the data and thats 32TB but good god $759 for 32tb......

I paid $1839 for eight 22TB Enterprise drives. Same drive now is $489 each. That is insane. AI really ruins anything.
I so regret not moving up to 22TB drives last year. I am stuck with my hybrid 10TB-14TB array of drives for the foreseeable future. I am dreading if a drive goes bad, I'd have to probably buy one of those 14TB drives that cost as much as what I paid for 2x14TB drives in the system now.

That's exactly why I buy one or two extra drives, and test them, when I upgrade my arrays. Although even the recertified drives that I now favor are a ridiculously higher cost. This whole AI buying bubble can't collapse quickly enough.

Amazon listing is now a 3rd party seller - just be careful since a lot of companies use that to get out of warranty support.

BnH also has a card that saves sales tax. Can be close to 10% depending on where you live. They have had the best deals on drives lately.

But on the upside, at least for me, I was buying the used enterprise 14TB back when they were like $120…so I’m sad for today, but grateful for back then.

I usually just go to GoHarddrive.com for my stuff. And they are way more expensive as well. its crazy

Amazon has WD RED Plus 4TB drives for $124, with a shipment date end of the month. These are first party, shipped and sold by Amazon. I can't find any other 1st party drives at this price at the moment. You'll have to wait until they arrive and ship though. I need a couple drives to replace failing surveillance drives, and these are currently less expensive than Skyhawks that are not first party. I just don't trust any HDDs that aren't right now. You have no idea what you are getting anymore. Refurb, re-label, used, total scam fake drive, who knows.

That's not insanely horrible for 4TB red plus drives. Last year I think they were normally 100-120, I picked some up at 85 for a small NAS project, didn't pick up backups. Guess 4TB is just too small for our AI overlords

Just don't forget that Amazon co-mingles inventory, which means that you can't really guarantee that something sold and shipped by Amazon isn't counterfeit, either. Definitely check serial numbers right away.

Seeing as the drives have not shipped yet, should be fine. And that's a good idea, I will check the serial numbers as soon as they arrive.
