Crimson Desert

Poly said there is some Ray Tracing in this Sewer so I had to investigate.

I found some Ray Tracing but I have it turnned off in settings.

I just have Ray Tracin' turned off for extra fps. This games camera is kinda wonky. Especially when riding horses those trees come out of nowhere really hard to read but I can tolerate it.

I know it shows, especially in your outside picture, ligthing is very flat looking and a lot of shadows missing as you scarificed image quality for more FPS.

Mining the wrong type of Ore looking for Copper or Iron.

Only thing that bugs me really are the Menus I could't find the coversation I had with the Blacksmith then I found it like 25 minutes later under the notification menu.

Skip the clickbait vids, Asmon thinks the game is bad. He said this with confidence on stream Saturday. So, unless the new patch changes his mind.

Here, I timestamped it:

View: https://youtu.be/xYhOnhjbmcs?t=15687
He also said he would complete the game. Make what you will of that.

Fake news. His since released two other videos of him still playing and enjoying a "Bad" game

Played for about 4 hours yesterday, had a pretty good time. This will definitely be a slow burn with lots of mechanics to learn and places to explore. Using kb/m and the controls are definitely odd but nothing too bad so far. I bet the archery mini game would have been a lot more difficult with a pad.

I once read an incredibly detailed game review on Steam by someone who utterly hated every aspect of the game… and he’d played for 650 hours.
Asmongold rarely if ever finishes games he actually likes. He liked Where Winds Meet until he stopped playing it. It'll be interesting if he sees this one through until the end.

That archery mini game is broken AF. Supposedly they made it easier with the latest patch but I'm not seeing it. For me, the 3rd guy was still aimbotting the targets within milliseconds of them appearing. Finally beat it by switching to KB+M.

KB mouse is how I beat the archery sections of Ghost of T

From what I've seen, this game is basically a demo for next gen graphics with a bad storyline, poor boss fights, mediocre controls, enemies that lack variety, an excessive amount of grinding, and long, pointless cutscenes. Am I missing something?

just not a game for you, i guess.
ive put 63 hours in so far, and have been loving every minute.

They made Black Desert Online. This is very similar but turned into a single player game. You could argue all that stuff you said but it's pretty subjective and probably just not a game for you. A lot of people like that stuff.

I would definitely not call it a demo for next gen graphics. It has good graphics, especially for a studio doing it on their own but they aren't licensing it out or anything. It's a specialized engine for the games they make and it's not without it's flaws.

Looks like something to pick up on a sale later on when they have sorted everything out. But so far it looks promising and I hope it will serve as an inspiration to other developers not to just toss away their own engines for UE 5.

It looks gorgeous, hope the view distance is great and there isn't too much pop in of assets?

Sounds to me like your vision really sucks.
Where am I wrong? Is the story compelling, is the combat good, is there a variety of enemies, are the boss fights good and/or interesting, is there no grind?

Please offer an actual counter argument if my summary is wrong.

Yeah they do crushing blacks early models anyway not enough brightness you can turn it up higher but it will be washed out. The New Tandom LGs oleds are suppose to be really good. Still blows away most lcds even my Samsung VA panels.
The color grading and levels in Crimson Desert are crushing blacks and also way over boosting colors. Certain shades of Red, in particular.

You can fix it with RenoDX.

Yo, where are pictures of your in-game pets with armor and clothing?!

I hear that's a thing.

Please offer an actual counter argument if my summary is wrong.

Like others have said, maybe it's just not for you but it appears that you're on the hate train for no reason.

RenoDX actually uses Reshade as its injector. So there you go.

RenoDX is primarily advertised as a way to adjust/fix HDR. But, it typically works for SDR, as well. And its not simply a post process effect, like many Reshade shaders are. They actually interrupt and replace how games output their levels, color space, bit-depth, etc.

Personally, I mostly enjoy the juicy colors. But the crushed blacks annoy me.

Story shmory, I'm having a blast playing this! The world is so much fun to explore I can ignore its faults. Perfect game to just chill, enjoy the scenery and unique quirks. The main character's dull personality is actually kind of amusing tbh :D I never really played any MMOs so perhaps I just like the change of pace. Feels like being in a dream, with random weirdness seeming perfectly normal and the lack of solid story mechanics not at all concerning. Maybe I'm just older now and easier to please, but I see myself putting hours into it for a long while.

Have you played it?

Every point you've brought up is entirely subjective which means nothing in your post is worthy of a "counter" unless you've actually played the game. If you're just being a troll and craving attention Bankie put you in your place well enough. Maybe you should go back to the Harry Potter thread if this game feels like it's too much for you.

I have not played it, I have been researching to see if it is worth getting. I had concerns, which I asked above, and the answers have been defensive enough that I don't need to hear any more.

This game definitely doesn't feel like too much for me, it feels like an empty, pointless endeavor. Thank you for convincing me.

BTW, Hogwarts Legacy is actually a very good game.
