WD sata drive burst speed 178.3 ?????

How new is the new one? And what SATA controller are they connected to? It is very possible that if you have a SATA2 controller that the new one is SATA2. Most if not all SATA drives you buy now are SATA2 compliant.

Way to put hard drive with Windows already on it in new system without boot cycling?

Not to be a stickler, but moving WIndows from one box to another violates every lisense agreement you have with that copy of Windows... Especially if it is an OEM copy.

    Linux freezing at login... suse,ubuntu...etc

I had this exact issue. With SuSe here is how I corrected it. (Should work for other distros as well) 1. At grub edit the OS line you want to boot from. Highlight the line and hit 'e'. Next screen go to second line from top (the kernel line) and again hit 'e'. At the end of this line...

does this install method actually work for the Creative X-Fi?

Creative X-Fi does NOT work in Linux... no matter what. According to the Creative rep who I have had to deal with about X-Fi in Linux, they have no plans to EVER support X-Fi in Linux... The original Creative driver was begun by Creative for the ALSA project and since has been made better by...

A Disk Read Error Occurred - The aftermath

Download Ultimate Boot CD or some bootable CD / Floppy that has hard drive diagnostics on it. Both IBM Drive Fitness Test and Seagate SeaTools will see and test all drives as long as they are not on a weird RAID controller. I can almost promise you that you have a bad hard drive. Back up any...

Way to put hard drive with Windows already on it in new system without boot cycling?

You mean not reloading Windows or physically rebooting that machine? Not reloading Windows just load the chipset drivers of the new machine while it is in the old machine. Remove hard drive and put in new machine. Should boot to Windows then load the rest of the new drivers. Physically...

4GB USB Thumbdrive, NTFS or FAT32?

Does not really matter unless u are going to xfer files between OSes... Like going from a Linux machine to Windows and vice versa. I always do mine in FAT32 becuase I am always using both Linux and Windows.

    MBM5 with Tyan K8WE?

Thanks for the reply... Does that program work with LCDC? LCDC is a LCD tool for the front panel displays... I need a temp readout for a customer on the front panel. I will load that program though, at least I can get temps in Windows. Thanks!

    NFS: Most Wanted crashing

I just bought NFS: MW and installed it without issue. I went to start the game and I get to the initial loading screen (with police lights and says "Loading") and it just crashes to desktop. No error message, no nothing... just desktop. I updated my video card drivers and it still crashes...
