    have you tried ultramon (google it)? I used it once, has a fair few more options than the standard options dialogue. What drivers are you using?

    Hmm... Endurance?

    If its running XP, why not use hibernation mode? Its turns the system off, but stores anything you were doing etc onto the hard disk, so when you turn it back on, you can resume where you left off.

    when i had my laptop, i was no more careful than if i was carrying my desktop PC, or using my desktop. I never touch screens (unless they are touchscreen, but most of them use a pointing device), even though my desktop has a crt. I hate trying to get those smudgy oily fingerprints off it...
