    RMA'ing older DDR ram (Corsair)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when they say 'lifetime warranty' it refers to the lifetime of the product or equivalent product. Once they run out of DDR stock, most likely, you are SOL. FYI, I just RMAed some DDR (last week) with crucial, and they still have Ballistix. Just though I would...

[SG03 Extreme MOD] Small Case, Big Water

Why do you say the TMG2 sucks? I have it, but have not installed it yet. I'm waiting for my next system rebuild to install it into my SG03.

    eVGA Warranty & Replacement question

Performance is similar with the 7950GT winning out usually. The 8600GT has the ability to run DX10 games (albeit with low performance) it also has the VP2 video engine chip which offloads 100% of H.264 ( HD video) decoding. The VP2 is ideal for an HTPC, especially a low end CPU based one.

    eVGA Warranty & Replacement question

I just received my RMA today for my EVGA 256MB-7900GT KO and got a 512MB-7950GT. I was actually hoping for an 8600GTS (for HD viewing) since its going into my HTPC, but I can't complain. :)

    Someone explain CPU Waffer

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czochralski_process This processes is how they make the wafers. In short, they can't grow it in a square. To make it square they will waste just as much if not more area then just processing it as a circle. :)

    "core" temp in speedfan

It reads from the same place "coretemp" does (on die sensor as stated above). Though speedfan doesn't seem to support reading both cores in a dual core cpu in this release.

Page File Issue! Help! Very high commit charge...

From the picture it was not apparent you did this, but it may help you pin point it... from task manager processes do: view -> select columns... -> check virtual memory size Now you can see what programs are taking up all your memory

    K8L Quad-Core Tapes Outs

I was referring mostly to the last bit about the NEXT step being to create the masks: So my Addition was that when they announce tape out they are creating the masks. But I was in the wrong, I read the daily and it said it had already taped out (mask set created) but the press release only...

    K8L Quad-Core Tapes Outs

Actually, if anyone cares... "taping out" came from way back in the start of the IC era when the engineers would physically create the mask(s) by applying/removing tape to a glass sheet which would then block the light from hitting the photoresist. So when it is "taped out" the (final) mask...

AMD Next Generation Processor Technology Slides

the main boost core 2 had over core or K8 for that matter was the dual 128bit SSE data path. K8 uses the same as the K7 for FPU its 80bit wide. To do a 128 SSE anythign would take at least 2 cycles. K8L now has the dual 128bit SSE data path among other additions. The difference will now be...

    X2 3800+ 35w vs. Opteron xxx rated@35w

And if AMD dosen't test/program the CPU with the Tcase max value it will read as 35W and 49 C Tcasemax. What gives the operating wattage is the stock voltage. 35Watt parts are at 1.075-1.125v 65Watt are at 1.2-1.25v 89Watt are at 1.30-1.35v or something to that effect. No way does a...

    my 7900GT overclock blows too

I got an eVGA 7900GT KO right before the new ARs came out and coolbits auto detects mine at 550/850 (though i can hit 900 on mem without artifacts)

    x2 3800+ Temp questions

I am getting similar temps with a new 3800 X2 based machine I'm building for family. The stock Heat sink just doesn’t seem to be adequate, dam AMD for downgrading the stock HSF. Mine idles at 38 and after hours of dual prime reaches 70 C (fan running full on, with case side off). No errors...
