AMD’s K6-III ‘Sharptooth’ debuted this week in 1999 with on-die L2 cache to savage the Intel Pentium II — it also held the line against the Pentium II

I took a computer repair class back in high school and most of the better e-waste that we practiced on were these or the k-2's

RAM kits are now sold with one fake RAM stick alongside a real one...

Didn't Corsair make dummy ddr4 with their RGB stuff a couple ten years ago?

    Samsung Galaxy S26 / S26+ / S26 Ultra

If anything it's kind of annoying. In that it defaults to look for a face in situations where I am trying to unlock using the fingerprint reader. Which to be clear is a minor annoyance.

ComputerBase - Upscaling Blind Test at 4K: Native+TAA vs. DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4

It's difficult to avoid pixel peeping when there aren't enough pixels to begin with. I do appreciate how the various UI and text elements are preserved because of these upscalers.

First Ram and NAND, now spinning rust the next victim of AI

Don't worry. We will be doing all that stuff and robots will be in charge of entertainment. It'll be some hitherto unforseen amalgamation of the now. Something obvious in retrospect I'm sure.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Been playing Yakuza Like a Dragon the past few weeks. I needed to play something long and undemanding that I haven't already played before.

Newegg stock price falls 17.7% after Chinese owner is detained by anti-corruption authorities

Back when there was such a thing as cheap RAM I found some absolute steals but other than that I ignored the site for the better part of a decade because of some imagined slight, I honestly don't remember in retrospect but I got a pair of Sony XM3's at such a discount that I had to bite. Like...

Is running two drives crazy one for games and one for everything else?

I used to throw an extra hard drive in a system whenever Windows was beginning to get sluggish

Frame generation: a primer on why many people who have tried it out like it.

I'd love to be able to play with it more even though I loath the prospect of any more input latency. It seems like the technology is used to take advantage of the same people who got upset at letterboxing in the old days of widescreen media, but read the Q3 timedemo benchmarks and wondered why...

Microsoft appears to have given up on cloud gaming in the short term

Ken Kutaragi is rolling in his futon at that statement. Coincidentally Sony was the first major player to invest in cloud gaming back with the acquisition of Gaikai

NVIDIA To Bring Back The GeForce RTX 3060 In Q1 2026 To Tackle Current-Gen GPU & Memory Shortages

The difference there is that nobody would be as quizzical about it if they did. And not just because AMD have surprised us before.

NVIDIA To Bring Back The GeForce RTX 3060 In Q1 2026 To Tackle Current-Gen GPU & Memory Shortages

I know that the answer is money, but I can't help but wonder why they didn't pull a GTX 240 move? I'm not saying design a new board but grab a higher end mobile part and do an official hack job or something.
