Intel Ditching 24 Pin Power Connector on Motherboards

The big problem is doing this will not make PSUs cheaper, and it will definately make mobos even more expensive. Motherboards are already getting very expensive as it is, and adding half a PSU to them will just make them more expensive. Then you have the issues with limited hard drive...

Intel Ditching 24 Pin Power Connector on Motherboards

They cant ditch all the voltages esp 3.3V, as all NVME drives require it to work. Plus a lot of the board logic uses both 3.3 and 5V to work properly too. They are basically cutting out a chunk of the PSU and mounting it on the mobo, so they can say the PSU uses less power and is more...

Intel Ditching 24 Pin Power Connector on Motherboards

The big problem with this is that the power rails that used to be in the PSU will now be on the motherboard. So not only will that make motherboards much more expensive, but you will also have all the heat from that conversion dumped into your case. Then you have to deal with mobo makers that...

    Playstation 2 Slim

Play all your PS1 and PS2 games on it. I still play my old PS2 a lot, its the fat one and I have a hard drive in mine I load all my games on to play with HD loader. Amazing how quick they load compared to a disk, even on an old 120 gig IDE hard drive.

Samsung Messages Discontinued on July 6. FREE / BASIC / SMS text msg app recommendation.

I did look around, but there wasnt a lot to go with. Plus at least with messages it would move all my old texts from verizon messenger to it so I still had access to them. That was the main thing I liked about verizon messenger is I switched phones several times, and it was able to move all my...

Samsung Messages Discontinued on July 6. FREE / BASIC / SMS text msg app recommendation.

I used verizon messenger for 10 years, and they killed it off last year. I had to bite the bullet and go with google messages too.

    WTB: Nic(er) LGA 775 Board

Yeah the 775 stuff hasnt got anywhere near as crazy as the earlier retro stuff either. At least I already got several good boards to mess with, I got the previously mentioned Abit IP35 pro, gigabyte X48 DQ6, Asus striker extreme, and the Asrock 775i65G R 3.0.

I realized yesterday This case is harder to pick up and move around than it was 14~yrs ago when I bought it.

At least that case is lighter than they used to make them. I had to pull out my AMD MP system out last year, and that is in an Antec SX1240 steel full tower with 6 hard drives. That made me say many bad words trying to manhandle that heavy beast. Fortunately my main system is in a Lian-Li...

    Crosswind aka Windrose (Pirate Survival)

Just started playing it again after beating the demo, they changed several things for the better. I got to the ship way faster than last time, and enjoyed it a lot more as a lot of the slog is now gone. Looking forward to the new areas when I get there.

How important are the threads that talk about MSI BIOS issues?

Ive had my MSI X570 creation since 2019, Ive flashed a new bios at least 13 times so far with no problems. I think the big thing is not to try doing it through windows, and do it in the bios itself. Ive flashed a crazy amount of bioses over the years on all my retro stuff going back 30+ years...

Classic Lan Photos from the CRT era

That one looks like the Thermaltake Xaser case, based off the cheiftec dragon case. The alienware cases of the day were based on the same case but were solid colors and said alienware in the plastic on the left side.

I uninstalled discord years ago due to privacy concerns. It made me think of the saying that you get the product for free, you are the product being sold.

Socket A Boards - still in service?

Yeah that was the big issue with the early dual socket A boards, they drew too much power through the ATX connector. Melting of it was a common issue, I knew several people who had that happen to them back in the day. That was one of the reasons why I wanted the Asus A7M266-D board as it had...
