Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
That's an excellent point; I hadn't thought about center of gravity or torque. It does look like the vast majority of the mass is at the bottom, close to the processor and mounting points, which would allay some of my fears. The fan will be at the furthest point from the board, but admittedly...
I've been considering either the XP-90 or the XP-90c. But 690 grams is pretty damn heavy. That's over a pound and a half of copper.
Some quick calculations... New pennies are 2.5g zinc alloy, so that's $2.76 in pennies. Five and a half rolls of pennies.
To look at it differently, about...
Yeah, but to get DDR1 support means dropping down to the 915 chipset if I want to stay with Socket T (which I do). I'm sort of set on the Abit AL8; it has a lot of features I like. I'd also be giving up dual-core support if I went down to the 915. I'd prefer to stick with DDR2.
Anyway, it...
I'm putting together a mid- to high-end system (in this thread), and it was suggested to me to ask this question in the memory section. I will be overclocking my CPU and video card, and probably my RAM as well (if I can). I'm not willing though to spend much more than $150 though for 2x512MB...
So, is it worth $25 to go to faster RAM with higher latencies, like this OCZ Gold 2x512MB DDR2 667 4-4-4-8?
What about $40 more for Corsair XMS 2x512MB DDR2 675 4-4-4-12?
-edit The OCZ above is 4-4-4-8, not 4-4-4-12 as I had listed before
OK, my box is starting to show it's age (2.5 years old), so I want to build a new one. My 9700Pro is getting kinda old, and 512MB of RAMBUS RAM isn't cutting it anymore. Originally I was thinking of a newer 3.2GHz P4, with a high end AGP ATI card, but I've been out of the loop for a while. After...
