Which would be better: newer video card or more system memory?

For those that are recommending RAM first, keep in mind that after 90 days, he will have to plop down $400 and go through the hassle of getting rid of his 6800NU if he wants to upgrade to a GT. -- Q: What is Step-Up? A: eVGA.com’s Step Up program allows you to protect your...

Which would be better: newer video card or more system memory?

2x512 would be optimal. With 2x256 sticks, you are going to have to get 2 new sticks for 1gb of RAM. The trick is to get rid of your 2x256 sticks to help recoup the cost. I did something similar by selling my 2x256 sticks to a friend who was building a new system. There is always ebay or the...

Which would be better: newer video card or more system memory?

Step up to a GT first since you only have 90 days to do so. Grab another stick of RAM sometime down the road when you can.

    $800 x800xtpe vs $800 2x 6800 GT SLI

SLI will require a board with dual PCI-E slots - which to my knowledge isn't available just yet.

[Petition] To Reviewers: Exclude X800XT From Reviews

How about we just keep the reviews as they are and you ignore the X800XT-PE benches and writeups. Bookmark them, so if the card ever comes out, you can go back and reread them. Problem solved. Best of both worlds.

    Help me beat the boss

The Raptor II (74gb) is quite a bit faster than the Raptor I (36gb). And as this test shows, RAID-0 doesn't help in game load times: http://anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2101&p=10

BFG 6800 GT vs. PNY 6800 GT - temps and O/Cing results...

From what I've been hearing, BFG's new heatsink doesn't perform as well as the old, reference one. As for the many BFG recommendations... it's probably because of the many things going for it: lifetime warranty, guaranteed overclock out of the box, overclocks as well as any other GT to date...

NVDA stock fell over 4$ today..

We here are only "experts" on a small facet of Nvidia the company. Without doing some adequate research, you are taking a big risk if you want to try to parlay 6800 demand into riches.

Fake or real X800 XT PE?

I don't think there are any BBATI VIVO's. I think they will just release AIW flavors of the cards later. Only the Pro and the XTPE are listed on ATI's site currently. Fire up ATItool and check the pipes and the GPU/memory speeds. If it acts and quacks like a XT-PE, it's a XT-PE.
