Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Makes me wish I'd gone with something a little larger for my RAID array then 400GB. Well at least the price one those will just continue to drop. And a max of 2+ TB should still last me a while.
And to think 13 years ago my first computer had a 160mb harddrive.
600 million blocks, not sectors, my mistake. I wish I could skip it. I know there's no reason it should be more then a few megs but for the last few weeks the number of files or folders found hasn't changed and it says the last file it found is thumbs.db
While transferring some data to our server I backed it up on to an external 250GB hard drive because the drive it was on was going to be added to a RAID array and needed to be formatted. At some point after the data was all copied over the drive got corrupted. I've had a similar drive for over a...
That's what my roomates and I have done. We moved all the media from our 4 computers onto a RAID 5 array on our server (currently 3 400GB RE2 drives, but we have online capacity expansion so we'll be adding another 1 or 2 soon) It's nice because as soon as I download a new TV, MP3, movie...
Switching the PCB is pretty easy. You just have to find the same model, undo a few connections and some screws and swap 'em. My friends and I did it once, luckily we knew a repair guy at a local computer store that had the same model drive and was willing to let us swap the PCB so we could...
I think I've figured out the problem. Normally the recovery process seems to hang on file #345 but after and hour or so it moves on to #46 and after another hour or two #347. I think the fact that I was transferring multiples files at once caused a lot of frgmentation so in order to reconstruct...
My roomate and I decide to upgrade our server with a new TB RAID 5 array. I had 1 of the 400GB drives in my desktop for about a month until I could afford 2 more and the RAID card. I transferred the data from there on to my desktop and a 250GB external drive. Unfortunately both seem to have shit...
Ontrack Easy Recovery. Excellent program, although definitely on the spendy side $500 for the standard edition and $95 for Lite.

Well it looks like I made the right decision in deciding to build a RAID 5 array with these drives. Just got one right now in my desktop until the price drops a little. Then I'll get 2-3 more and a RAID card.
Well my external 250GB drive just decided to take a shit on me. Luckily it looks like Ontrack can recover all of my data but I don't have anywhere to put it. So we've decided to start building the server a little early. Right now I've just ordered 1 WD Caviar RE2 WD4000YR 400GB...
My roommate and I are doing the same thing basically. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=961223 8 drive RAID 5 array with 400GB drives for a total of about 2.5TB formatted space. Just bought the first drive today because my external hard drive decided to get corrupted and I want to get...
400GB Western Digital Caviar RE2 16mb NCQ WD400YR
Just bought one of these from zipzoomfly. $40 cheaper then newegg with shipping. It's eventually gonna be part of an 8 drive RAID 5 array. But right now the price break is at 300/320GB drives so I'm gonna wait a few months for prices to fall...
I used Ontrack EasyRecovery and it looks like I'll be able to recover everything. I tested it by recovering one video and it looks like it worked perfectly. Now I just need to fine 230GB of hard drive space to recover everything too.
Bump.
Disk Management shows the drive as having 100% free space and a RAW file system.
Is there any data recovery programs that might work? It took me a very long time to amass my collection of TV shows and the vast majority of them were on this drive.
Of course this couldn't happen in...
L:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
I just got this error when I tried to access my external hard drive. I moved it to my desktop (from my laptop) and I ge the same error just a different drive letter.
I saw that there was a recall...
