    Turn-based strategy game suggestions?

Wow.. No. It is the same game 'format' but there is some real inspiration and innovation (story, characterization, philosophy and just overall maturity of theme, unit diversity and workshop, all kinds of little things, etc.) in there that really sets it above and beyond.

New SFF gamers case: presentation and advices

Putting a system together with this case was a massive pain in the ass.

Steam weekend deal: Sid Meier's Civilization IV

While none of the core (i.e. not call to power/etc.) Civ games are 'bad', 3 is not as good as 2 or 4 and I recommend skipping it. 2 makes a nice underpowered laptop game. 4 is modern but did the series justice. Also, I highly recommend Alpha Centauri.

New SFF gamers case: presentation and advices

Is it not worth building without replacement parts? I have mine laying around ready to go but I've been hesitant to take the time to put it together due to the erector set comments and the feeling that its a hassle (biggest perceived unexpected downer to buying this case). System is doing OK in...

    RPG noob seeks tutor

Mass Effect is very (or can be depending on how you play) FPS/shooterish - that would be a good start.

    1156: i7-860 vs. X3440

Looking for some more opinions on 860 vs. the Xeon (w/ HT) Lynnfield line. I will be overclocking (w/ Hyper 212+), but without amping up the voltage too much, and keeping TurboBoost/etc on. x3440 - $240 - 2.53ghz i7-860 - $290 - 2.8ghz, better turbo caps Is the Xeon a no brainer or might...

    And the Debate Continues

If the X3440 pulls 3.4-3.8ghz, what is common for the i7-860? I am trying to decide between the two processors. I will be using a CM Hyper 212+.

    mATX Build

The lower turbo boosts (which I assume I would be using despite some OC) wouldn't be a problem? Would (Xeon + AM Cooler + Nice OC) > (860 + Stock + Small OC)?

    mATX Build

Had a thread awhile back but my needs have changed, some were understated to begin with, and I have done a lot of research since then. Planning to buy soon. 1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc Web browsing, torrents, maxed gaming (including...

    System Refresh

Thanks, what about for an mATX mobo (w/ 2 PCI-E, regardless of the 2nd slots speed)? Any cheap standouts?

    System Refresh

Between the two of us we'll need those parts anyway and I'd rather grab them. I could live with anything between a wash and a little overkill, preference learning towards a small upgrade even if I don't feel it in most use. I guess then I just need a value combo of 4GB ram, and a good CPU that I...

    System Refresh

Note: I have a year and a half or so old system that I'm not super thrilled with anymore. Couple other factors - my dad could use some pieces to upgrade his system, and I'm sitting on a copy of Windows 7 upgrade. Seems like a good time to dump some pieces his way and start fresh with some new...

    Smallest mATX Case with..

What are some of the smallest mATX cases that fit both a full size ATX power supply, and the newest full length video cards? It seems like both of those requirements really puff out the dimensions.. .
