AMD K9s scheduled for late 2005, 2006
Low power chips will be the name of the game</center>
ROADMAPS SEEN by the INQ reveal plans for AMD K9 Opterons to arrive in the first half of 2006, and gradually during that year to shove out the K8s into obscurity...
I dont know what they cost now but there were selling cheap at one point in time back when i got mine
monarch has them for 213 shipped,I got mine right when they came out and was 180 plus shipping or something like that if i remember right
I know for sure it was under 200
dave was...
don't bother spend 500 on a chip.you can get 148 optys for well under 200
just emagine having a 170 dollar fx 57 :D thats pretty much what your getting with the opty's
its not a real big jump but if you want to mess with amd its a real good chip to play with.If you can wait a little longer,ddr2 amds are soon to be released.
my opty 148 does 3ghz with stock cooler so bang for your buck would def be the opty's
Its a server version of the AMD 64 bit cpus that were made to fit the consumer market. The first opterons were 940 pins and would not work on are boards.AMD now has 939 pin opterons that will work on are boards.
they have better cores than the fx's and 64s and tend to overclock like mad...
seriously dual core wont really show gains on what we normally do on are systems.I have a opteron 148 and it was under 170 and does 3ghz plus on stock cooler. The extra overclock you can get with the single cores will make up the gap of the dual cores until more software comes out to support...
can you elaborate what real work means,IM very happy with my opty that was 160 bucks that does 3.1 ghz with STOCK cooler.
I can do anything that I ever wanted to and do it pretty darn fast my friend.I was encoding 2 dvds at the same time with my system and had no problems what so ever.
are...
