    The Linux Appreciation Thead

Thank you for providing exactly the info I wanted. Much easier to look into this now than if I had a post of "lol it didn't work."

    The Linux Appreciation Thead

Not trying to say Gentoo owns everything else, but to say it doesn't work... well, that's just wrong. I haven't had any unrecoverable problems using it, despite it being the first distro I used. Any bugs I've encountered have all had solutions within hours, if not minutes. ::shrug::

    Anodizing suggestions?

Thought about doing it yourself? If you have more than a few parts, it'd probably be cheaper (and more fun) to do it yourself. Google for "Home anodizing." Here's a couple links to get you started: http://www.focuser.com/atm/anodize/anodize99.html...

    Bondo and plastic

I'm a step ahead of ya. ;) I believe I'm going to go the fiberglass route, I've never played with it before. :D Thanks for the info, though.

The case is far, far too busy for my taste, but God damn you have some mad skills. Great work!

    Bondo Bucket

Ah, your case is starting to look like one of my mod ideas (perfectly blank face). Keep us posted!

    Bondo and plastic

I've done my fair share of Bondo, mostly with woodworking, and I haven't ever noticed it getting warm. It's never warped anything I've made it on and I didn't notice it giving off enough heat to be noticed. I never did try sticking my hands in it, though. ;) I'm looking to do a fairly...

    Bondo and plastic

Does Bondo adhere to plastic? I'm thinking through ideas for my blank-face computer and this is a pretty vital part of it. I want the face of my computer to have a perfectly smooth appearance and the Bondo is gonna have to stick to it. Anyone try this before? This is on an Enlight case's...

Why are my CPU temps so high?

I cleaned the surfaces with rubbing alcohol, as I usually do. I'll try reseating the heatsink later with that method, if I find some time today. Well, once it hits about 75* or so it gets unstable. It rarely locks the entire computer but applications will crash.

Why are my CPU temps so high?

I have a cheap Enlight case (7327 or something, I don't recall) and a 1600+ AXP on a Gigabyte 7-DXR+ (poor college student alert!). Now, I was always getting high temps with this CPU since I bought it, but never had any stability problems. I had a Volcano 6cu+ on it, but the fan was too noisey...

First MAJOR mod...lots of wiring involved....

350 grit sandpaper is some fairly fine stuff for shaping materials, especially metals. I'd try 80 or so. I'm a woodworker, but I always smooth things out with 80 grit, then up to 120. Anything more than that gets done in the finishing step and takes 220. Things come out looking great. So...

Please explain window etching to me

Ok, thank you. I'm going to try to pick up a few practice pieces today and see what happens. This weekend might result in me being very bored so I need to find something to entertain myself with. ;)
