New Linux Box, compatible mobo & memory

Hardware support in the more popular distros (Fedora, Debian, etc) is excellent, even rivaling Windows, so you should be good.

    Coupler for RJ45 question.

^^^^^^ That's the optimum configuration. Just make a patch cable from the keystone jack. Though, if you don't want to spend the money on the punch-down tool and the jack the coupler will be more than adequate. I personally soldered 2 cables together once because I was in a pinch :D

    Binding DSL & Cable

Maybe fiber to the node. But it's definitely not fiber to your premises, it's just basic coax.

    Coupler for RJ45 question.

Isn't a coupler just bonding the copper? Shouldn't be any difference at all.

    I have in my possession....history :)

Hell, I don't even remember now. $250-$300 maybe? For that matter, I don't even remember what year I got it.

Now what? (Need a new card)

No fucking shit, but I stated I wanted to spend $250 max. Read. Comphrehend. Post. I know the 6800 can be had for $270ish, but would the 6600GT OC perform better than the standard 6800?

Now what? (Need a new card)

I love it when people make no consideration to a budget. I don't have $500 to just throw around for computer upgrades. I think I'm gonna order the BFG 6800GT OC, looks to be a great card.

Now what? (Need a new card)

Do you think a 420Watt Allied power that came with my Chieftec case be enough to power the 6600GT if I put it on a seperate power lead?

Now what? (Need a new card)

I'd rather not spend more than $200-$250, hence the 6600GT. The video card is really the bottleneck in my system (3.0CGHz P4, XMS3200 RAM) so I assume this is the best card in that price range?

Now what? (Need a new card)

Well, having had this 9500 Pro since they first came out, it has finally come time to get a new card. I'm looking for opinions on where you guys think my money should be spent. I've heard good things about the 6600GT, would this be a viable option for upgrading?

Overclocking CPU Causes Raptor to not detect?

When experimenting with overclocking I found that on my motherboard (ABIT IC-7) with a P4 2.8C CPU, any clock speeds over 220 causes my HD (10k RPM 36GB Raptor) to fail detection on the SATA bus. Anyone know of any possible ways to remedy this?

Thoughts on a new rig im considering building...

Do you REALLY need the FX-55? Seems like any gained performance is negated by the face that its about $500 to much.

    The Screen Shot Thread!

Is that IL-2? If so, for being so old, that game looks damn awesome.

    Need a 4GB Mobo

The Abit IC-7 supports 4GB of memory. It has 4 slots, each supporting 1GB each.
