Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I do warranty repair for Dell - this doesn't shock me and I was wondering when something would come out. I've been see quite a few Nvidia cards dead in laptops for awhile now, with problems getting replacements. Sometimes its taken up to a month to get a card replaced. Just had one customer...
Have you had any success with this?
It should have been present on the original build of the system, you may have deleted the restore partition when rebuilding from scratch.
No Dell system advertises the Restore Partition, you have to know that it is there in advance. It should come with all...
While they may not send a restore disk with the system, there is a restore partition that should be present.
Hold CTRL and F11 at the Dell screen.

Anybody who needs help taking apart a dell laptop, or wants to know about the innards WITHOUT opening them.. pm me.
I can get ya started on tearing them apart and tell you the general layouts if you give me the model number, at least for most of the ones in the last 4+ years.
I ordered the sound card I mentioned. Works pretty well, bracket was easy to install. Not much of a true audiophile so not one to comment on its audio quality, but hey, it works!

Just happened to run across this card, picture shows it coming with the small bracket! 38 plus shipping...
Oh don't worry, I didn't think you were trying to get down on me at all! I honestly just realized that I should have been more specific in my query. I do the same thing anyone who ask me, "Do you know where I can get this?" Knowing what you're using it for and how much you're willing to...
Sorry, should have been a little more specific. I'm probably just going to end up with a usb sound card, probably the best option given the limited selection of half height cards.
Anyone know of a GOOD half height sound card and where I might obtain it? Hoping for one with support for 5.1, trying to add better sound to an older Optiplex GX. I know I could just get a usb sound adapter but I want to use that as a last resort.
Thanks.
Yeah, a new computer for this person is kinda pointless. Its a PIII system, all they do is internet and email.
The thing about it being a OS problem per se is that the system runs just FINE when the computer is connected DIRECTLY to the cable modem. ONLY when connected to the internet via the...
and YES I do realize that the first problem is the Gateway PC, but its not MY computer, its a co-workers home PC. ( Not to mention that it was Win. ME on it :-) )
Heres the problem. Computer has been hooked up to cable internet via CAT5 ethernet (Comcast). Person was given another computer...
I personally haven't actually tried the wire trick, all of my processors have unlock sufficiently for my needs recently. It is possible that the wire isn't actually making contact with the pins as you suggested, may be worth trying a different one and verifying that you're connecting the...
