Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
At some point it's simply not worth the cost in electricity to run older hardware, though, relative to their performance.
Not that it would stop me personally, my computer hasn't been shut off in probably 20 years aside from upgrades or when I leave on vacation 😂
People generally only go online to post in forums when they have problems. Very few people are going to post "Yeah everything is working normally, thanks" 😂
I have used MSI X470, X570, and now X870 boards for my desktop builds and all three have been fine, no issues. To be fair, so is my ASUS...
VSYNC should be enabled in the NVIDIA control panel when you are using GSYNC. I have been using hardware GSYNC for 12 years, this is the right way to do it.
You can reference this guide: https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/
What display are you using on this computer and how is it connected?
99% of my VRR/GSYNC issues have been due to the cable or the display, or a software issue; seems highly unlikely to me that the GPU would work completely fine but VRR/GSYNC would be broken. I'm not even sure how that, and only...
All of the problems with our taxation system are solvable; it's simply a lack of political willpower to do so because the system is beholden to donors and now super PACs.
I don't have a problem with incentivizing long-term investments but changing the law such that if your income is primarily...
I saw a used one for $2000 on FB marketplace, but you're really unlikely to find one for that price right now. I'm just holding out to see if I can get one through NVIDIA's lottery or Best Buy because I'm not paying AIB prices for a used FE.
Hello all,
Cleaning out my basement and it's time to offload old parts. See below. New parts will be periodically added and thread updated.
Notes on sales
All components were removed in good working condition. Most haven't been used recently but have been stored safely in my...
There's some evidence that Mantle played a role in the development of DX12, and AMD gave Mantle to the Khronos Group to serve as the foundation of Vulkan. It definitely wasn't a retcon, ultimately the entire industry adopted a variant of what they had initially proposed...
Not entirely accurate.
- The issues with AMD cards and microstuttering were mostly in DirectX9 IIRC, and it came down to issues with AMD's drivers. It really had nothing to do with CPUs, since the problem was prevalent even on Intel CPUs at the time.
- DirectX12 and Vulkan provide advantages...
I know AMD used to have issues with frame pacing in older versions of DirectX, but I haven't heard of that as a common complaint in many years. I am not saying it doesn't happen, particularly as these games get older and hardware/software moves forward, just that I don't believe it's a systemic...
Serious question: does it matter?
DirectX9 was introduced in 2002, DirectX11 was introduced in 2008 and the latest revision was introduced in 2015.
At this point, most DX9 and DX11 games are so old that they'll run absolutely fine on any modern NVIDIA or AMD card.
I don't think I've ever had a pump actually fail. Currently I am running two D5s that came with my EKWB reservoirs, both have been running 24x7 since 2021 between 40-60% speed and zero issues to date.
