Can't really answer your question, but can give some personal experience. I had a 50"RCA DLP for about a week and exchanged it for a Sony Grand Wega 50" LCD and the difference was phenomonal, both in television viewing and gaming. Love the LCD...
I remember playing the demo for the first one. Ran like crap on the comp I had at the time so I didn't buy it. I really liked it, but didn't see the point in buying a game I couldn't play.
If you can settle with a few inches smaller, you can find a nice DLP for anywhere from $200/$500 more off the net. I just bought a Samsung 46" DLP HDTV for $1700 including tax/shipping.
