Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
It could be quite difficult to compare between Xonar and X-Fi, coz each model has its fan, the price is much the same, the funtions have too many different...and so on. About the external DAC, I think some would like to choose it for much purer sound. If you need more features such as Dobly tech...
Xonar Essence is designed for music enthusiastic, especially for its headphone amp. You might want to try a decent headphone under the price range you mentioned.
As for speakers, some just mentioned Denon and Onkyo. I think they are good. But if possible, just borrow one from others to make...
No worries. The two models focus on different users. Xonar Xense focuses on gaming users while Xonar Essence ST/STX on audiophiles. Especially, Xonar Xense might be bundled by a headset which might be more expensive than Essence ST.
Well I have to say that sleek and friendly is the term resulted from the comparison with Creative. It might not go too far that UI of ASUS Xonar is better than that of Creative. But, maybe someone has different opinions
Cool~~~ I have heard ASUS Cine 5 for a while but still can't find it in retailers. I think you should find some more good sources to test its suround and multi-channels sound instead of those from Youtube.
@compor
Ya, you did mention some points of Xonar DS but still miss other features which you might want to keep in mind.
The AV200 HD audio processor which can also be found in the more expensive D2/D2X models assures a good audio quality from Xonar DS as well. I think this feature is...
Well, Xonar DX did have more features than DS. However, just as compor said what price, what goods you need to pay more for these functions of Xonar DX . About the Xonar DS, well, I was a little surprised by its swappable Opamps which is unseen in Xonar DX.
But its true that DX owns some...
Generally speaking, if you dont have an AVR, get Xonar HDAV 1.3 Deluxe. But if you already got an AVR, things could be different. If your AVR doesnt support HDMI 1.3 and cant decode next-generation audio formats, Xonar HDAV1.3 Slim is still your best choice. Contrarily, you might just need...
Thanks for your sharing,. Some of my friends are also satisfied with this set (Xonar Essence STX + Sennheiser HD-650) in spite of the fact that HD-650 really costs much.
Although no any official tests or experiments, it seems that ASUS Xonar and Sennheiser are perfect for bundle. Thats the...
Thanks for all you guys’ sharing. I think I might need to upgrade my speakers for getting the full benefits from Xonar Essence. Let me try to test some great speakers you mentioned and find a great one what sounds good to my ears…
What is your budgt range? Although the Xonar DS and DX(or D1) are both great, but there exists difference in price. For Xonar DX, it's about $90 while DS is about $50 from Newegg search.
Ive seen a previous thread telling that Sennheiser will bundle its super gaming headset PC350 with Xonar Xense, but really I dont know why Sennheiser will do so!
Since Im an owner of Sennheiser PC 350 and know that its impedance is as high as 150 ohm that few of audio cards can support...

@Tuf
In my opinion, good choice! Just a review found out from the website for your reference

It did mention ASUS Xonar DX is excellent.
@EndersShadow
If you want a cheap soundcard, I would still...
