2x8GB Laptop ram. Best way to use in desktop PC?

So I have a Macbook pro that basically died. It's got 2x8GB dimms(or are they still called sodimms?) inside. I've seen quite a few places on the internet that have those little laptop-to-desktop ram inserts. Can anyone actually recommend one that works well? Is it even worth it to try and do...

Quad core Phenom 9600.. need suggestions for something new.

Hey everyone.. so I have an old CPU in my "gaming" rig that I think needs to be upgraded. I have a Phenom 9600 that I am finally feeling the pinch of it's slowness. I recently got a Macbook Pro(mid 2012 model), that I threw an SSD in, and 16GB of ram. It has an Intel HD 4000 video card and...

    2 ATI 6970's in Crossfire/Eyefinity and Windows 8

So I installed Windows 8 on my machine and noticed that Windows 8 by default sets up each monitor as their own instanced resolution. It set up 1 huge desktop, but each monitor had their own 1920x1080 resolution, so it was showing up 1920x1080x3 instead of 5760x1080. Whenever I clicked...

    3 monitors. 1 16:10 and 2 16:9

Anyone have something similiar set up? I have 1 monitor that is a 16:10 and apparently those are either no longer being made, or they are rare, so I was forced to get 2 16:9 monitors. I have the 16:10 in the middle and the other 2 on the left/right.. I can't seem to get the 16:10 monitor's...

    2x 6970's in Eyefinity.. Help?

I purchased 2 Diamond 6970's for Eyefinity. Each card comes with 2 DP, 1 hdmi and 1 DVI. I currently have 3 monitors, 2 monitors have DP/DVI and a third has HDMI/VGA So the DP ports on these cards is pretty close, close enough to where I can't plug in both DP adapters. I have 1 DP...

    Another 3870x2...or?

Is there a brand 6950 I should be looking for? or is it random? I saw the 6970's at Fry's for like $329.. I didn't even notice the 6950's price because I was oogling over the 6970's.. I've been so out of the loop on video cards/prices so I'm a born again noob.

    Another 3870x2...or?

So I have a 3870x2 that I bought for $499 when they first came out.. it's now about 3 years old and while still allows me to play most games fine in 1920x1200 and high/ultra settings, I'm looking to upgrade. should I dump another 3870x2 in there for about $80-$90 bucks for quad crossfireX? or...

OS on Raptor, Games on SSD? or other way around

I'm hearing alot of mixed results.. I hear people talking about the OCZ Vertex, and then alot talking about the Intel.. I've heard that the Vertex is good for photoshop, and digital imagery, whereas the Intel for everyday use/games is better.. anyone?
