Looked up my serial number and shows a full 3 years of warranty
Wow, I guess I got lucky in that mine was shipped in the protective bubble. Definitely would be wary when the anti-static bag shows signs of holes or punctures from the PCB.
Good point! as they are shipped everywhere once they leave the production line.
Perhaps I'm a bit old fashioned in believing that these drives are delicate creatures and need to be very securely packaged. Since this drive was in a thick bubble enclosure, I'll give it a thorough testing and...
Thanks again guys. Definitely planning to do a full stress test (as always with hard drives).
Just a bit concerned that it wasn't even in a box and probably was roughed up during shipment. Might be my paranoia but part of me says return it to be safe.
Thanks for the reassurance guys. I'll be sure to test the drive out for many hours.
Noob question - is there a good Linux emulator out there that will let me run Badblock on Windows? Don't have Ubuntu set up on this machine.
Or I can use the WD Diagnostic Utility:
Extended Test

I completely agree. Always have a backup. But still would like to take precautions where possible to ensure the chances of drive failure are minimized.
I would be fine except the drive in this bubble was inside an envelope and was moving around. The envelope itself also provides much less...
Ordered a drive from a (seemingly) reputable seller on eBay. It arrived today packaged securely inside a thick 1" bubble shell. The drive was nestled inside the shell and was not moving. This shell with the drive inside, however, was inside an ordinary thin bubble envelope. It was clearly flying...
Yeah, but I'm still concerned. It was nicely sealed inside that 1" thick bubble but it would have been better if it came in a box and not in a large loose bubble envelope.
My concern is because I'm putting lots of very valuable data on the drive. As such, I'd much rather pay $35 more for...
Exact same situation and concern. There's always a catch isn't there when it seems too good to be true. How difficult is it to ship it in a box?? I guess they will have 1,400 angry customers.
Mine wasn't even in a box. Was inside a thick layer of bubble wrap inside of a bubble envelope.

Have not heard of this seller but minimal risk with the eBay purchase guarantee.
Quick question -
Do you guys also have black horizontal bars (top/bottom) when playing this game? I'm on a 30" montior (2560x1600) and have the aspect ratio set to 16:10 (native). I still get black bars on the top and bottom.
Is this normal? It was also the case with other Ubisoft games such...
