I thought this topic died after proof was published directly from Microsoft proving that Nvidia had worse drivers?
Apparently not, Nvidia fanboys should focus positive energy on Nvidia, it needs it bad check the stock, instead of trying to dredge up 8 year old FUD.
I think you answered your own question about the design problem. Its 3 year old tech. I find it hard to believe this part is what they planned for this release. I find it even more hard to believe that they'd be attacking reviewers if it was planned.
Are you asking? Obviously theres nothing to review. Which makes me wonder if they just didnt die-shrink an existing chip to cover up another design failure. They've done the same thing several times in their history.
They just havent ever been as aggressive in attacking reviewers before...
If it was just a marketing strategy and not some pale ploy why get defensive and ban reviewers?
This is the same sort of stuff 3dfx did to Tom's Hardware right before they went under.
If I was a betting man I'd say something went horribly wrong, and they produced another dud chip and are...
If you have severe blackouts/drop to snow that last many seconds you might want to invest in a Monoprice 2 way HDMI switch($15). It does something to the way the Westinghouse LCD handles HDCP. Unfortunately it doesnt fix the problem but I was getting dropouts to black that would last 3+ seconds...
Best deal going is the 42" Panasonic plasma for $700 shipped at B&H Photo(highly rated on ressellerratings). Though thats only 720p, a 32" 1080p is $600 minimum though. Personally I would live without 1080p for the extra real estate. Panasonic plasmas have a gaming mode and never have a problem...
I dont think its a heat problem, could be made worse by heat I suppose but Westinghouse had a slew of HDCP handshake issues across their product line. Just bad engineering IMO. I had the monitor hooked up via Component and those cables got hot too but I never had 1 problem. Too bad the component...
Just a crappy HDMI implementation by Westinghouse, which is usual by them. I believe its a hdcp handshake issue and the heat is just a coincidence, though I suppose the heat could make things worse.
FYI my Philips DVD recorder drops out with exactly the same symptoms as you have while watching...
I'm not trying to 'hate' on the platform, it is in decline however. 2002 PC sales were 1.4billion.
Also if online sales arent counted for the PC then they're not counted for the consoles either.
You also have to pay attention to the overall videogame pie. Overall videogame sales are...
PC games sold $970 mil in 2006 and $910 in 2007. After inflation thats an over 10% decline. Considering theres half as many good titles this year as 2007 then I imagine the decline this year will be substantial also.
In 2007 PC game sales only accounted for 14% of all videogame sales.
The...
Problem is a stock never recovers from a 30% down day. Many funds simply wont consider investing in your company as it is now considered too risky. Also hedge funds and shorts start to circle the stock.
Combine this with a fairly weak economy and a weakening PC gaming segment and Nvidia is...
Once you have a 30% fall most of the funds wont touch your stock, and the hedge fund buzzards start to circle the stock. So that puts further downward pressure on the stock.
If you look at 3dfx and ATi when they had similar one day collapses they never traded in the range they used to trade...
The dilemna being that there are 2 relatively small 12v rails on the powersupply. And the one 12v rail has the CDRW and HDD on it already. So if you plug a 4 pin power connector into it, its going to overtax that one 12v rail and the vidcard isnt going to work properly.(exactly what happened...
