alright -
I don't want to have to deal with memory issues - assuming I purchase the Abit MAXX3 and 3.0C northwood - what memory would best suit my needs - model numbers would be nice as well :)
Thanks Everyone!
Buckus,
you have the lanboy - do you or did you have a problem fitting certain motherboards?
edit: What ram works best with that abit board? I don't need some performace ram so i can overclock - just speedy, quality ram. I was going to get crucial's basic stuff i think the code is...
i've built 3 pc's all have been built with Abit boards - granted they were all 3 AMD/VIA Chipsets. I've had nothing but good luck out of them....
I was reading a maximum pc article about the use of the Chaintech board and how nice it was, it just got me thinking that maybe i should use that...
i don't wish to turn this into a pissing contest. I've been on both sides of the fence. AMD is great and Intel is equally as great. It's just my understanding that the edge is going to be given to Intel for apps such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Pagemaker, etc....
Comments on my mobo selection?
i can't decide on the case:)
That settles it - 3.2C northwood it is...
as for the mobo - is that a good decision or should i get something else. I won't be overclocking or anything. I just want rock solid stabilty. I've read that this board it good and that department and has plenty...
Hey guys...
I've got my shopping list made out and everything is in my shopping cart at newegg so I can place my order tonight....
I'm just trying to decide whether or not to purchase a northwood or prescott.....
i had initially thought i would get a P4 3.2C Northwood, but i was wanting...
that was the reason.... i like the looks and stuff....
I don't frequent lan parties or anything, nor am i a "pussy"
Perhaps I will look into building another "big rig"...
So for comparison of prices anyone got any suggestions for stable mother board?
upon further research I learned that the prescott would melt that poor box faster than a snowcone on a warm day....
I do appologize for all of the crazy questions :D
I just want to build a nice machine that will last as long or close to as long as the one i have now.
One last thought -...
bump for memory question - Do i get ECC or non- ECC.....?
The SB75S has "Support Dual Channel ECC DDR400 Memory"
So am i to assume I should buy ECC memory?
also - with the reccomendations to stay northwood vs. prescott, am i off base? Would I be better off looking into building an AMD - 64 system?
I appologize for all of the questions - I'm just wanting to order my stuff today!
what about specific memory? I would like to get good stuff since I love photoshop.... also what do you think about my selecting the 74 gig 10k rpm fireball hdd?
