I'm looking for a networked media player

I use a Dlink MediaLounge (http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=1&pid=318). Have you considered this yet? I've really never have any issue with playback. It seems to do fine with the popular video file formats (divx, xvid, mpeg-no wmv though). Even my larger/higher quality files seem to play...

    Video Server: Disk System Advice

I guess one of my other goals was to get all this data from these random disks on to something a little more tidy, maybe enhancing performace a litte in the mean time. I definately do a fair amount of video editing on the server, so that would affect my decision at well. The video is generally...

    Video Server: Disk System Advice

I have about 500 GB of video data that I currently store on mixture of external USB and independant internal SATA drives. I am thinking about devising a new configuration, but I want to set something up that will give me the best performance for serving up these video files. I am most concerned...

    enabling dma?

I had this issue with my ATI tv program as well. Everything said that DMA was enabled, but the video was all jerky and jumpy. What I did was delete the primary and secondary IDE channels. Then when I re-booted, the channels were re-installed and all was well.

    Firefox has Parkinsons

This is really weird. Sometimes, when I open a new window with FF, the whole page does this thing where it shakes up and down. I can get it to stop if I hit refresh a few times, but it is really getting annoying. Anybody else encounter this or have any suggestions??

I dont think that the chip is just going to up and die on you all of a sudden. Increasing the Vcore above the default might just shorten the overall life of the chip a bit...if that. No worries. Your good.

I want to make my own DVD menus

You could use DVD Lab. Its a great program, easy to use, and makes some really professional looking menus.I use it to make DVDs of my fav TV shows that I have recorded, similar to what I think you want to do. However, you will have to encode your video into MPEG format to use it (and that can be...

How often do yall optimize/defrag your HD?

I was always under the impression that if your were moving around/deleting large files on your drive you will need to defrag more frequently. For instance, I do a lot of video encoding/editing etc. and am moving large files around quite frequently. I usually defrag once a month or so and its a...

    Why did you choose Intel?

Im an intel guy simply b/c when I started messing with computers they were top of the line. I've put Intels in every computer I've ever owned since, and they've never failed me. I'm sure AMD makes a fine product, but If if aint broke, dont fix it. Besides, a great man once said "Never go against...

If you keep your eyes peeled you can pick one up for around $150. If you add the optional window side panel and cross flow motherboard fan your looking at about $200-$210. Not to bad. I really think its a great looking case. Plus, being so big its super easy to work with. Airflow is also...
