The Northwood and XP's all used about the same amount of juice per performence with the northwoods being a little less when OC'd.

If your mobo could handle it you should have got a 1.2GHz or lower as the higher FSB 133MHz+ on the OC really helps.

Some of the last 1GHz PIII 100MHz fsb did 1.33GHz on default or near default. If you do the math they were only running around 50w which is not that much. It also depends on which 1GHz it is. Intel made a tualatin 1.0 GHz PIII.

I bought a 1.8a right before christmas and OC'd it too ~3.2GHz on default voltage and it was a D1 stepping ironically.

This is a HP. They rarely have hardware monitoring functions available but I could see its temps in the bios. 46deg. C in it which is usually a little higher than idle but not quite as high as full load. I did not feel much heat coming out the back either.
