Funny little ad, but not specific like the first one. "Blu-ray!" Heh.
But I think they picked the wrong laptop if they wanted to push the whole "cheaper" angle. A Sony Vaio, really? How much of a markup is that compared to any other laptop maker out there?
Well they did shop at BB, so I guess...
Well, you can buy something really similar right now.

I have two of these, but they're black. Picked them up in CostCo awhile back, really nifty.
I used it actually, to trade a vanilla 6800 for a 6800 Ultra. This was when you just could not get a 6800U or an x800 at all, but I needed a card for my rig desperately. Worked as advertised.
No mention of eVGA? I think it's awesome that they'll do the tradeup program, especially since GTs and Ultras are such a pain in the ass to get ahold of at MSRP. Planning on trading in my 6800NU for a 6800 Ultra... or waiting to see if ATi can actually, you know, ship some XTs out anytime soon...
I don't know if they even bother looking at net applications. I've filled out three of them, all to different stores, and haven't gotten any replies back yet.
Right now I've just about had it with ATi. I've had a XT PE on order with Gateway for almost two months now, so long I bought a 6800NU to "tide me over". Went with eVGA so if my disgust rose high up with ATi I just cancel the Gateway order and use the step up program to go to a 6800 Ultra...
I'm having a slight problem, but I don't know if it's the eVGA 6800NU or my monitor or what. When I turn the resolution to 1600x1200, the text gets pretty blurry. I did up the DPI to Large, I think it's 120? But, still blurry. I dropped the resolution down to 1280x1200, and it's better, but...
Well with eVGA they have that Step Up program, so getting the NU if you plan on getting a GT or Ultra later isn't that bag of a deal IMO. It's what I did since ATi can't get their act together and release any XTs.
I ordered this card on 6/27, and had an estimated arrival date of 7/28 for awhile. After that past I got bumped back to 8/27. So I'm not holding out much hope at this point, however they decided for some bizarre reason to put another authorization on my credit card recently. They did this right...
Well, just got an e-mail from Gateway. They've delayed the delivery on the XT until 8/27, but at least they didn't turn it into a Pro. By the time they have any and are ready to ship I imagine HL 2 will be out and we'll find out if the XT is worth having, heh.
The problem with Ultra quality is you'll need 2GB of system RAM to do it if you don't have a graphics card equipped with 512MB of RAM. And since it'll take up bandwidth you'll see pausing to load the textures. I think I'd rather play at High and have it be smooth versus Ultra with pauses. The...
They need to get the damn XTs out the door, that's what they need to do, before everyone gets sick of waiting and buys a GT. The only reason I haven't gotten one myself is because Gateway still lists my XT as being on pre-order.
