Right but the point is the PCs themselves were 'cheap' (for as cheap as $1k was back then to people - for a computer) - and rebates and such could make the cheaper emachines etc PC even free Even in the 201x's PCs and parts were cheap.

I actually think those times were worse than now, just IMO Don't like paying more than not - but items going out of stock ASAP only for scalpers to then put them up on ebay at heavily inflated prices and for even those to sell out quickly -...
