    How about an option #4 Does your motherboard have 3 ram slots and are you using 2 X 512MB sticks. If so you could put another 512Mb stick in the remaning slot for a total of 1536MB. I would recomend you borrow a stick of ram from a friend to give it a try with before you invest money in this...
