I agree, soldering might not be a good idea. What about filling it up with Arctic Silver Thermal Epoxy?

keep 875 chipset or move to the 925 chipset.

Stick with the 875 chipset for now and wait until the 925XE is out... until then, decent PCI-E VGA-Cards, low-latency DDR2-RAM and the Prescott 2MB L2 / 1066 Mhz FSB will be available as well, making the 775 Platform a killer setup. :)

    Any LGA775 motherboards...

Any 865PE board will have AGP and DDR support. There are some 915 Boards with DDR and AGP out, but those seem to be in the early stages. I second the Abit AS8, it's an awesome board. The Asus P5P800 seems to give overclockers a lot of trouble and I haven't heard much of the Gigabyte yet.

    remember the first multivid p4's?

Actually, I it 4 Ghz with a 2.4B SL6RZ @ 1.7V (223 Mhz FSB) with a Vapochill a year ago. It did something around 3.8 Ghz on the stock HSF and ran flawlessly at the stock 2.4 ghz with only 1.0V Vcore. Probably one of the best CPUs i ever got my hands on... i still got the screenshots on my HD...

The last video card that gave you butterflies

Elsa Victory Erazor (PCI Riva 128) and a Diamond Voodoo2 3D 8MB later on. I saved up months for the Riva 128, still got it here - working. That was like having a 6800 GT and a X800 Pro in one PC... plus, back then, ANY 3D-Accelerator was awesome back then.

    Powerbook G4 (data recovery?)

Get a Firewire-Cable, connect the Cable to the PB and any other mac with a Firewire Port. Then press and hold the "T" Button while you turn the machine on - the PB will go into Firewire Target Disk Mode, which makes it act just like any other Firewire Hard-Disk. HTH

Driverheaven HL2 bench shows ATI > nvida by alot

I'm neither an nvidia or ati f.a.n.b.o.y, but I feel like I'm going to get an nvidia card this round. My two 9700/9800 pros were nice cards, but for now something keeps pulling me towards the 6800 gt, which has a pretty good bang for buck ratio, especialy if you oc it or even flash it into an...
