    Mint is based off Ubuntu. So if you've tried Ubuntu, then you pretty much have tried mint. If you want real performance try Gentoo or Arch.

    2. The macbook comes with a better OS than the thinkpad. Although this issue is easily solved by throwing a Linux Distro on the thinkpad. The only fault I can find with the macbook pro 13" is that Apple doesn't offer a matte option for the screen. In the end you can't go wrong with...

    Does your motherboard support Raid 5? If so, why not run that instead? With 2 Raid 1 array's, you would lose 2 drives, with Raid 5, you would only lose 1 drive out of 4.

    Yup, Ubuntu 8.10 supports WWAN devices. Using my verizon card right now actually.

    Go for a Thinkpad T series. They offer up to 1920x1200 for res. And its a thinkpad, nuff said. :)
