    Fixed it this morning, my short (original) scsi cable had a bad wire. It's a factory rounded cable where the individual wires are seperated and bundled in to a sheathing and one wire had been severed. I doubt this was the problem from the beginning though, since the replacement card did work...

    Or you can just add the second drive as a seperate volume, unless you really want it all on one drive letter. As far as getting it all on one drive letter you can also do JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) to simply join the disks together instead of striping (depending on your raid hardware/software.)

    Really, they're going to do whatever is cheapest for them while meeting the terms of the warranty. If they have refurbs that are reletively reliable, they'll do that, if they don't they'll grab whatever drive meets or exceeds the general specs of the purchased drive, be it new or refurbished.

    So that proves that software raid0 (not even cpu assisted hardware through it's driver) is slower. Some of us knew that already, and does nothing to prove much of any point other than people will use a poor benchmark to prove a point.
