    Having read the release notes on Vista SP1 and noticed the line about UEFI support I was wondering does this mean if I get a Vista disc with SP1 included I can install it on a mac with out boot camp. As in no OSX nothing just turn it into a plain Windows box?

    You seem to be presuming Intel and AMD spend the same amount to make a die with the same area ignoring defects. But if I am not mistaken AMD is still using SOI which according to several sources including Intel is significantly more expensive.

    All it would do is make Intel respond with something faster (good for us) Penryn appears have better IPC and appears to scale to higher clockspeeds much easier, I have not doubt if Intel had some real challenge they could pull out something atleast 0.2Ghz higher than whatever AMD can.

    To install Vista on a Mac Pro you require 2GB of RAM but since your planning that anyway you should be fine. Also make sure you get FB-DIMMS that follow Apples cooling spec or you may have trouble when running memory intensive programs Crucial do them for a decent price

    I recently installed bootcamp on my Mac Pro and it now seems to take much longer to boot up. After start up a black screen is displayed for about 15 seconds before the Apple startup screen appears and if I hold down the option key it takes well over 30 seconds for the bootcamp menu to appear...

    Trust me you don't want to see pictures of the filthy pit I call my office :) Not really managed to push it very hard yet compiled some small stuff earlier and it just flew through it with no effort. So glad I didn't buy a standard PC in the end it soooo pretty!
