So, my laptop has recently decided to make a hissing noise from the speakers. This same hissing noise is present when I plug in external speakers. The driver is up to date, and I haven't installed anything new. Other than it being a POS gateway, any thoughts?
ok, so i reset the smc, and same problem.
the battery works fine (charges etc) on my roommates computer. Also, the macbook recognizes when it's plugged in and when it's not, but the light on the power cord stays green and never turns red for charging. i'll try my roommate's power supply next...

i had to charge the battery on my roommate's comp, then use it plus the 1.3 firmware restore disk, but it's working now... kind of.
