    I've had good luck using disParity for snapshot raid: http://www.vilett.com/disParity/ The GUI I've used: http://student.fau.edu/pbryan/web/dsm/, though the CLI is a snap. Had a WD20EARS go bad, bought a new one, threw it in and recovered. Worked well.
