You can hack up a window AC unit and submerge its cold side in something like a cooler full of glycol/water for a diy heat exchanger. It won't be a clean job but it'd work better than a peltier and be more efficient. I think even LTT has a couple videos doing that...
I've had minimal issues on my X1C with inland PETG+, though I rarely use PETG since I can find ABS cheaper and it prints better in my experience.
Are you having bed adhesion issues or issues during printing? I use a cheap third party textured PEI plate and I do usually have to increase the bed...

Usually an initial calibration can be saved to the device. On my old ender 3 with a bltouch it was something like a G500 command to save and G501 to load config, though I can't remember for sure. It was nice to be able to run a 49 point auto level once and just keep re-loading it until the bed...
