    The Abit board was one of the better overclocking VIA based boards but I wan't being picky... I would have bought the MSI board if I found one sooner. I took about 4weeks of searching forums to find one for sale.

    I went with the Abit A8V... got a good deal but it did o/c as good as the DFI board I had. Since then I went to AM2/PCI express ATI chipset/ ATI video card. Screw Nvidia.

    I haven't found a fix yet. Vista still works fairly well in single core but I'm still not satisfied with that solution! :mad:

    Well I picked up a 7800 AGP video card and everything was detected and worked properly with a clean install. I reinstalled my x800xtpe and the error core 43 returned. This is weird. I'm gonna see if I can fix this without disabling one the cores on the CPU.

    I thought maybe there would be a work-around using the cpu core affinity so that I could assign a single core to a specific task thereby getting the video to work while keeping both cores functional.

    What are your x2 / opteron dual core overclock results?

    Donno to be honest with you but I haven't had any stability problems. I just installed a vantec cooler to replace the dead oe chipset fan. I'll post back tomorrow.

    I couldn't be happier with the performance of my x2 @ 2.6ghz. :eek: You sound like the type of person that would buy a corvette then pull two spark plug wires because it was too fast. :D

    X2 way hot and will not overclock

    I get max load of about 65C while overclocking my 4200+ to 2.6ghz 1.60v with the Zalman 7000cu and AS5. Maybe a bios update will fix an incorrect reading?? Also try the finger test... stick you finger on the heatsink to see if it feels like 70+celcius. :D
