Anyone using the analog input for 2001fp instead of DVI?
If you can afford to buy 2 2001FP's, then you should be able to put down a little cash to make both work on DVI, no? ;) -

17" LCD for mom
Order from Dell when they offer discounts or you get your hand on a coupon. Which monitor, however, I'm not sure. It depends on the discount offer I suppose. The Dell 171FPb should be a good choice though. -

VP171b vs. 1760nx
They both use the same panels. The difference is in the bezel (and the rotation, etc. thereof) and also in the fact that the VP171b includes a DVI cable wheras the 1760nx does not. Also, if you prefer one's warranty to another, there would be a difference. Visual performance wise, there... -

That monitor is too expensive. you should be able to get a VP171b for that price or better from Dell w/ coupons. -

Do all the 16ms LCDs have a AU panel?
Most people love their 2001fp's. But they are relatively new compared to the VP171b, hence my use of "fully prooftested". I definitely remmeber multiple threads on the uneven display brightness of the 2001fp. -

Most people here who own the VP171b have nothing but praise for it. Its pretty much the #1 most reliable gaming LCD out right now. There are other up and comers, such as the 2001fp and the 172x (I believe this is the model - from Samsung) but neither have been fully prooftested. -

VP171b question about Verticle alignment
I have noticed no ghosting at all. But all I do is watch a few movies and play games like War3, nothing intense. -

1) How do you rotate it? I am using ATI Catalyst 4.1 drivers and can't find the option to do so anymore (I had previously done it with other drivers but I can't remmeber which). 2) Is the performance still sluggish when rotated? Is there any known fix? Thanks yall! -

THE BEST 17" LCD - with gaming in mind - money can buy
I personally run at about 40% contrast and 80% brightness. Works great for me. -

Cheapest reccomended 17" lcd ??
Response also affects movie playback. If there is quick action in the video, a lower response is still better. Though as you said, a 25ms panel would probably be sufficient, as well as a non DVI monitor. My tip is to check out dell's supply and buy one when there is a sale. -

which one? vp171b or 1800fp?
I own the VP171b and love it. No problems at all, and plenty big. Plus, I dont like the fact that the 1800 is bigger, yet has the same resolution. That means that the images are bigger. I personally almost wish the 17"s had a higher res so I could make everything smaller. 18" at 1280x1024 = bleh...
