I gotta go with ASUS. Over several years, and many board manufacturers, I still have better luck (less problems) with ASUS overall than any of the others.
Try plugging in some speakers, and the ASUS POST reporter should give you some message or other. There were a number of these mobos with a defect you can't see without voiding the warranty. If the POST reporter says "system failed CPU test" or something like that, chances are you need to RMA...
