why spend $400+ on a video card?

Well no, run it on a 7600GT and it will look similar to UT2K4. People buy these games for the graphics, not a few new weapon changes.

    Vidcard advice for NWN 2

The funny thing is AA isn't even enabled in the game yet. Imagine frame rates after the patch enables it.

Whoever designed that cooler needs a raise. The square tin box on my 1900GT is just plain fugly.

AMD & ATI - Some Questions Answered

Yep its the corporations and universaties that buy 20,000 computers every year which AMD wants, and which of course they cant do without Dell. With ATI, AMD now will have a Centrino like platform that Dell will likely finally sell. I fully expect AMD to continue ATI's high end GPU development...

AMD and ATI merger rumors starting to look true

I'm not sure how AMD owes Nvidia anything they both benefited mutually from the Nforce. Nvidia would not be in the chipset business if AMD didnt exist. The Nforce did let them grab some of the enthusiast market but that is less than 1% of their market in the big picture. I'm sure they will feel...

open box at newegg is it refurbished?

Open box is always a gamble, especially at an enthusiast haven like Newegg.Chances are high someone overclocked it possibly damaging it, or possibly flashed it with the wrong BIOS and didnt have a PCI card to flash back the old one. To me Peace of Mind > $30 savings

Newegg packaging for hard drives has reached an all time low

That die in two months from a bad head  Bubblewrap is actually a terrible way to package hard drives you won't find one HD manufacturer that ships drives this way and some will void the warranty if you return them with bubble wrap.

    I'm about to order!

If its defective they will not dock you the 15%. I would take that deal also.

AMD-ATI Merger looks to be close...

As far as chipsets, the rules have changed, AMD no longer has flash to fall back on when CPU margins gets tight (which was a huge cash cow up until recently), and ATI would be a nice replacement at the cheap price it is going for. Chipsets and vid cards would also fill up the outdated fabs...

    7900 GTX or X1900 XT?

Once you've seen it first hand hard to go back, even if means enduring a little choppiness now and then.

    7800gt to x1900xt

There is no reason to even get the 512MB x1800xt, the 256MB will perform nearly identical and is an unmatched deal for $239 nowadays.

    Upgrade or DX10

Waiting wouldn't really help much because this is an extremely demanding resolution that is always going to require a powerful SLI or Crossfire setup to run current games smoothly. A year from now the DX10 cards will be out but so will more demanding games, so nothing really changes the fact you...

    Intel D940 seems sluggish..

It's probably the "modified" Lian Li chassis ;)

Is the 7900gtx faster than the x1900xtx?

The SLI upgrade path is never a viable solution. For instance in 6 months if I want to upgrade Im not going to buy another 7900GT over one of the new DX10 cards which will be likely as fast as both of them. SLI and Crossfire will always just be options for ultra enthusiast who want to run two...

'Bout to pull the 'Order' trigger, need one last bit of help.

Besides the notably horrible 2d of the Geforce 4xxx line, I beleive Nvidia has more or less caught up with ATI. The vivid look of ATI's 2D is just having different default levels of hue and saturation, which can be adjusted easily.
