New Build - Looking for input/thoughts/suggestions...

Thanks! The Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H looks great and you're right, since I don't plan to OC no need to get a board targeted at hard core OC'ers :)

New Build - Looking for input/thoughts/suggestions...

@DooKee - Good call on the PSU and GPU - but would you really drop the CPU? From the benchmarks I've read it seems like the 3770K is teh way to go.

New Build - Looking for input/thoughts/suggestions...

It's bonus time of year at my work which means it's time for me to make a new system (yay!). I will use this for all kinds of things - Gaming, Video Editing (minor), Productivity, HTML & Coding, etc. My budget is about $2000 but of course I'd like to save as much as possible without...

    Which video card? 4870 x2 vs 6850 vs 6870

I currently have a 4870x2 and when I play any game it sounds like an airplane is taking off in my office. I hate that. Currently looking to replace with a 580GTX or 6970, but I think I will hold out until Feb.

Better option: HD 6950 + 12 GB ram OR GTX 570?

I agree that I definitely want a 2GB card. Even if that extra GB goes unused, I think it makes sense to have 2 (especially if I go with the 6950, the 2GB cards are just a tad more $$$). I keep going back and fourth on the GTX 570 vs. 6950 - I've had ATI cards for awhile but I'm not happy...

Better option: HD 6950 + 12 GB ram OR GTX 570?

Thanks for the input - so you don't think the 12GB isn't worth it? I was so impressed with the price tag ($75-ish) for to move to 12GB of ram I figured it is a worthwhile upgrade. From the benchmarks I've seen, it does appear the 6950 will give me the settings I need in most games so I think I...

Better option: HD 6950 + 12 GB ram OR GTX 570?

Hello - I currently have a Radeon 4870x2 video card and I am looking to upgrade to a DirectX 11 compatible card. My budget is right around $300, so it appears my best options are: 1. Get a Radeon 6950 (His OC'd card) + 12GB Corsair ram (total cost: ~$340) 2. Get the EVGA OC'd GTX 570...

    10.9 drivers install problem

I'm having the same exact problem - I get an error every time I try to install on my 4870x2 Windows 7 64bit machine. I have driver sweeped, CCleaner'd, and downloaded the drivers a couple times to make sure I had the right ones.

    Tom's hardware dec $2500 build

I think you'll do very with that build. I was recently in the same boat and couldn't decide between 920 or 860. I went 920, but from the benchMarks I checked they seemed neck in neck.

My new build - did I get the bios raid stuff right? Also, care to help me OC my 920?

Cool - I'll use that guide, thanks for the link!! The one other thing I didn't do is load the Intel ICH10R AHCI/RAID driver OR the marvel SAS controller into windows 7 during the install. Is that step even required with windows 7? if so, I'll do a clean install since I'm not that far into...

My new build - did I get the bios raid stuff right? Also, care to help me OC my 920?

I just finished my new build (specs in sig) and so far it seems really awesome! I am wondering if I got the BIOS stuff right, especially when it comes to my hard drives. So, I put my storage config drives as "RAID" (not ide or ahci). On my sata 1, I have my 300GB raptor and I installed my OS...

Have my $$$, now I'm having second thoughts, should I do a full upgrade?

So I've been waiting for a client to pay me so that I could do a full blown upgrade on my main rig. Then I decided instead of an upgrade, I should build a new rig and re-purpose my existing rig as an HTPC and have it hooked up to my TV at all times for netflix streaming/hulu/boxee/etc (and...

Currently have Dell UltraSharp 2407FP, would ASUS VW246H be step down?

Hello - I currently have the Dell UltraSharp 2407FP (got it in April of 2007) and I really do like it. However, I have my Xbox 360 hooked up to it with VGA cable, and it gets a little streched since the native monitor res is 1920x1200. I'm about to do a big upgrade, and the ASUS VW246H...
