Will NPUs soon become useless silicon? — Windows 11’s Local AI is getting GPU support

This made me laugh harder than I have in days, thank you! (The rest of your post is pretty much spot-on, too.)

ISPs’ long nightmare of having to list all the fees they charge is finally over

Do you like beer? Odell and New Belgium are both a seven-minute drive from my home. I pay $70/month for a gig up, a gig down, no data cap, the router, and local (that's 'Murican-speaking) support.

ISPs’ long nightmare of having to list all the fees they charge is finally over

Grateful for our municipal broadband. Comcast spent millions lobbying against it but failed, thankfully. The fleecing will continue as long as half of America is too distracted by bullshit culture war nonsense to demand effective government.

I’ve never been more desperate for a Black Friday deal than this year.

Depending on your level of desperation, I've been somewhat consistently finding less-than-terrible prices at Walmart. In the last three months, I've picked up 10TB Toshiba N300 Pros for $238, 12TB Toshiba N300 Pros for $268, 4TB WD My Passports for $109, and 2TB WD Blues for $68. These were all...

    PNY RTX 5070 BNIB, 16 GB SO-DIMM DDR4/5

I don't, but if I put together another system with MC combo parts my wife will have me committed for it. Bump because I believe you're correct about inevitable, continued price increases.

    RTX 5080 Super leak?

Revising my prediction to $2,000 for a 24GB 5080 Super. Why? Because 5090s now sell for north of $4,000. Also, fuck you, that's why.

DRAM Pricing Jumps 50%, Only 70% of Orders Getting Filled

I have some vague, fuzzy memory of a great sci-fi short story that revolved around fiefdoms that controlled old garbage dumps, and generated their wealth from salvaging shit we threw away. Closer to topic, AMD is raising prices on its GPU bundles 10% this month.

    9070xt $550

I'll be damned, the three I ordered shipped yesterday and were just delivered. Just in time for my SteamOS box! If you're local to the Front Range or southern Wyoming, happy to sell you one at cost ($596).

    Amazon Prime Day Deals 2026

Thirding. I picked up a bunch of < $140 Ryzen 5 9600X and Core Ultra 5 225 CPUs. Still have plenty of 16GB DDR5 kits and 1TB SSDs from prior years' sales. I mostly build entry-level 1440p gaming rigs and have enough parts now for another dozen or so of those.
