Looking for low-cost laptop/table for tethering

After looking around for a month and not really finding anything I need to up the budget to $1000 or less. The screen is the most important. Something that is IPS or non-glare and able to run windows. After looking at tablets, I think alot of them are overprice for what they are. A...

Looking for low-cost laptop/table for tethering

I'm trying to get some advice on a laptop/tablet that I can tether wirelessly to during a photoshoot. I would need the tablet to run lightroom, but editing would be minimal. Mostly, it would be used for the client to rate the photos and for me to check the composition. I'm thinking I would...

Best 27" Korean Display for Photographer?

My CRT just died so I'm looking at replacing it with a 27" IPS display. I like the Korean models since I'm a poor photographer, but I need a model that has seperate RGB controls so I can calibrate it and the monitor should have limited backlight bleed. I've also read that some of these...

    Cheap HTPC build?

I'm looking to build a HTPC on a budget with a small form factor. I thought about buying a Roku, but I need to be able to record shows as well. My main use for the HTPC will just be streaming movies from Netflix and recording shows off an antenna. No gaming, 3d, or encoding. I have hauppauge...

Advice for Upgrading PC to a Photography Workstation

    1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc I'm a photographer, so Photoshop CS4/CS5, Lightroom 3, Nik Software. Also Illustrator,Indesign CS4/CS5. Of course, I "might" play a little BF3 when it comes out, but this is more of a workstation. 2) What's...

    Final HTPC Parts List

Yeah, I'll add the bluray at a later time in the future. I just wanted to make sure it was enough power to play them. Unfortunately, Newegg's not having many sales on these items. I guess there have been too many similar builds!

    Final HTPC Parts List

Just wanted to get some advice before ordering the items below. No gaming on this HTPC! I will simply use it as a DVR, playing 1080p, blu-ray, and storing/playing DVD backups. I also plan on purchasing a tuner, either an HDHomeRun or Hauppauge 2250, but I will do that locally. Any...

    Intel I7 920 = $229 at Fry's

Man, I'm getting tired of all the B&M's that's not located anywhere near me having this chip on sale.

    i7 920 and P6T very impressed

Haven’t heard much about the P6T (non-deluxe). Looks like a good one though. I was considering this board because I really don’t need an ‘extreme’ board, although built in wi-fi would be nice. I think the only difference between this board and the non-deluxe is the lack of a SAS controller?

So intels prices drops, what are you getting? Q9550 or Q9650? (not sure myself)

I was going to get an i7, but now I'm going to go cheap and get a e5200/5400. For the price of a mobo, e5200, and memory I can get everything I need for $250 which is almost the price of the i7 chip itself. I'm not willing to bet that the i7 MB's won't be obsolete when/if the 32nm's comes out.

i7's effect on Core 2 Pricing??

As someone looking to upgrade from an old AMD 64 3200. Would the Q9300 be the best deal at the moment? Or is the Q6600 still the one to get. Q6600: dual-dual 65nm, 8 MB cache, VT support Q8200: dual-dual 45nm, 4 MB cache, no VT Q9300: dual-dual 45nm, 6 MB cache, VT support
