Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I'm about to build a new work computer, and vertex3 seems like the clear choice for a max speed 240GB drive.
Any reason to get an m4 instead? Used to be some stability issues with vertex, is that still the case?
If you have an environment where you can easily tell the difference between the 2, then recreate that environment, play both types, decide which you like the sound of better, and use that.
So, I'm trying to increase my NFS read performance, as I feel I should be able to consistently get into the 90s or 100s:
First
1976844+0 records in
1976843+0 records out
1012143616 bytes (1.0 GB) copied, 14.3723 s, 70.4 MB/s
That's my current speed reading some random file (not...
No, I'm talking about the equivalent of raid50. Stripe raid5s together, not raid1s.
I have not had a chance to do performance testing, as I'm still on my first 5 drives (running out of space though, I'll be buying more soon). I can't imagine performance is going to be that bad, and surely...
Correct, that's my mistake (and more than a minor nit, people reading this could easily get confused). Thanks for the catch!
Again, I'd like to repeat that my way may or may not be the best way, but I think it's worth consideration, especially for home environments where "lots of storage with...
Instead of running raidz2 or raidz3 with lots of disks, consider running several raidz1s striped together.
This gives you the flexibility to grow over time, and the flexibility to upgrade over time without having to overhaul the entire set of disks.
I've chosen to go with 5-disk raidz1s...
Where can I find a reasonable $$ (<$250) SAS Expander that has the most recent firmware? I don't want to get stuck having to find some HP machine sitting around so that I can update it.
