Notebook coolers - do you use one?

I use an APC passive cooler. IMO anything else is throwing money away. Get it a bit off the ground and the fans do the rest.

Thinking of buying XPS M1710, but I see some non encouraging comments about Dell..

I have a M1710 and the service from Dell has been great. Albeit at times it is less than efficient, but it is sound and their product is well worth it. Negotiating with Dell and waiting for the right sale (GPU/RAM included in price) makes it a most affordable route. As for the negativity ... I...

    Dell Spec. Your Opinions

What are you going to use it for? I'd consider upping the battery to a nine cell and perhaps going to the x1400 for a little more longevity/gaming possibility. I know you mentioned you are not a big gamer, but the x1400 will offer more options in the future, imo.

    Dell quality?

Dell quality has been good to me. As for the XPS out of price range, if you have a number in mind, then it never hurts to call directly and negotiate. I got my XPS down a considerable amount and avoided having to import a Sager 5760 from the US fwiiw ...

    SD37P2: RAM Discrepancy

As I need to make a decision by early next week - does anyone ultimately have a RAM recommendation for a SD37P2? 667 or 800? Any reason why? I'm grateful for any feedback.

    SD37P2: RAM Discrepancy

Thanks oDii. Some of the problems are that this document from Intel illustrates that the SD37P2 is supposed to be able to run DDR 800. As well, the Bad Axe version of the D975XBX makes me wonder if that is what Shuttle is running with - or wanted to. The changes @ Shuttle from 800 to 667 and the...

    SD37P2: RAM Discrepancy

I have just pre-ordered a SD37P2 and the retailer is set to test the system. The question I have is that the config @ Shuttle has it with DDR 800 (PC2-6400) and my provider cannot run it stable with that RAM with his engineering sample ... so I called Shuttle’s US Tech Support and they told me...

    is the 5000+ x2 am2

Though definitely plausible, since the chip was announced in May - this approach, I feel, would only alienate the customer ... regardless, the wait sent me looking for another product, as I need a rig now :? Ah market forces ;)
