Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Economics are part of our lives and affect most things we do. The Topic title:-
why is the fx-55 cpu 1000 dollars
The US Economy is part of the reason, plain & simple fact.
As I said previously in the UK an FX55 around (£550) is a cheaper top end CPU than the Pentium slot1 700mhz...
As for top end cards costing £200? I must have been asleep then? I can't remember when any just released top end card was ever that low, that would have been £130 UK at around the 1.5 $ to 1£ region exchange rates were a while back. They have always been around the £300 to £400 price point in...
Don't agree, with a current top end 3D card, you get a GPU / VPU that's arguably as complex as current CPU's, 256mb of fast top spec ram, (much faster than the most expensive system ram), a quality PCB with other components, and Driver support for around $700, kind of makes the top end CPU's...
Plenty of room, I've got a 7700 on mine atm, (never used a 7000, but I have one sitting on it in the first image, the other two case images are with 7700).
Mine's been running perfect since I got it built up just before xmas, A8n had bios 1002 & I've been using 66.93's with win xp sp2. No stability issues or rendering glitches. Games I've tried so far have all worked in SLI, (SFR mostly), except Unreal 2 that ran fine, but in single GPU mode...
I had similar with a 9700 pro the connector was less that tight, and that used to do weird things. All I did was bend the pins a little, but this was a floppy drive type connector.
On your 6800 it should be a normal hdd / cd rom type Molex so simply use a pointed metal object like a pick or...
It's another option for the high end and it will be great if they can get it to work well. I'm still always disapointed that the cards are behind the new games performance wise, so it would be nice to have the option and possibility to run a new game maxed out in a high res with decent AA & AF...
Plenty of info about V5 6K here:-

There are a fair number that do "work" but those that work even reasonably well are few, and I don't think any worked that well initially. With some later modding, by a dedicated community, like the PCI rework...
May have been at one point as it's one of the final revs, but it has some damage probably due to connection of incorrect voltage to the external power input at some point before I got it. I attempted a repair but no luck. Still makes a nice display item. as you say very few work and of the few...

The irony of watercooling the 6800, (at least the Leatek one I have), is you still requre a fan to keep that v reg sink cool enough. without any airflow it gets over 80C very quickly.
Will probably mod the DD cooler to contact the area in a similar way that the Innovatek...
Leadtek A400 GT, wetness by DD
Asus 9800XT, wetness by me :p
and if you don't know what this one is you need repeated beating with a large heavy object ;)
Found this topic when looking for something else ;)
I made a fan mimic device and had to match it to what a fan does, you may find some of it useful.
