Steam machine / steam cube / GabeCube

I got to say that I wasn’t expecting much out of the steam machine after all the not-so-positive reviews and assumed I’d regret the impulse buy but have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s super tiny which makes it easy to convince the wife to keep it on the TV stand. The build quality is...

    [Poll] Steam Machine 2026 = Build / Buy / Pass + SURVEY

I got on the reservation list initially and was on the fence on what I was going to do… but as luck (or lack thereof) would have it, received the email from valve this morning and reluctantly pulled the trigger. Now I need to figure out how to explain it to the wife 😬

It’s nice if you have that option. I pitched the wife on doing that with my basic mid-tower (looks more like a subwoofer than a PC) and got shot down. My only real option is a very small form factor if I want it in the living room :(

IMO, skip Bazzite and go straight to CachyOS. The atomic model is attractive in theory but when you have to start OSTree layering, it can get dicey on updates and muck everything up. I started with Bazzite, learned the hard way that layering can be dangerous and jumped to Cachy and am very happy...

I REALLY want one but its a big NO at the current prices. It makes far more sense to grab a dock for a steamdeck, if you have one, and just use that for the living room. And if you need more HP, use moonlight to stream from a beefier machine.

    WTB: DDR4 ECC memory. 32-64gb

That’s unfortunate :( it’s surprisingly difficult to find. If I don’t have any luck here I’ll try eBay

Shoot me a PM and let me know what you have. I definitely don’t want to spend a lot of money as this is for an old build so looking to see if anyone has some they want to let go for a fair price. I have 100% positive heatware. Thanks Steve

It would be nice if they offered a bare bones model, BYO SSD and RAM.

AMD Posts HDMI 2.1 FRL Patches

Thank goodness. Always thought that was absurd. This just makes Linux even more attractive than it already is.

Is Paralells stable enough to run Windows on Mac as a daily driver?

Yeah I would personally use it as an off ramp from windows (JMO). Or run an ARM Linux distribution

For Sale: EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 w HYBRID AIO cooler 750obo

This is still an amazing GPU but I’m looking to downsize. This will come with the hybrid cooler installed but will also come with the original air cooler. Make me an offer that’s not insulting haha It’s currently installed in my machine but I can get detailed pics if you’d like. My heatware...

Windows 11 will allow AI apps to access your personal files or folders using File Explorer integration

I think it really depends on the user. Linux is pretty damn easy to navigate and would honestly be 100% comfortable giving a Linux machine to an elderly family member. it’s the intermediate users like teenagers that scare me. The command line is vast and easy to break things with. Hopefully...
