Just built new machine and it keeps shutting itself down

I just put together this new machine: AMD 3500+ venice EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra mobo Sparkle/TTGI 520wt PSU ATI X800XL couple days ago and the first time I turned it on it shut itself down about 5 seconds later. It did this a couple more times, but once it actually got past that first 5 or...

    Elsa 6600GT 128MB AGP Retail - $156(no rebates)

Yeah, oooooonly 225mhz faster clock spped and 200mhz faster memory speed than it's supposed to have. :p I've only pushed mine to 400/800 because I haven't really felt like I needed the extra power. It's an amazing card in that it can be overclocked hard and sometimes have pipes...

    eVGA 6800 - $189.99

I bought a eVGA 6800 last Summer for about $280 and I have no regrets. It has served me well. It's always played everything well on pretty high settings (not 1600x1200 but everything high and usually some AA and AF on). I think it should last me for another 6 months to a year before I see some...

    Compaq R4000 AMD 64 4000+ Notebook $968

4000+ seems like major overkill considering how the rest of the system is crap and you have loads of bottlenecks with only 256mb ram, a 5400rpm hd, and a piece of garbage integrated videocard. With that setup, can the 4000+ cpu really be utilized to the fullest? I think not.

    Enabled 16 pipes and 6 V.Shaders on 6800nu.

I have no clue why that is. I tried this mod yesterday, the 4 extra pipes produced artifacts, but after testing, the extra vertex was good. Just turned off the 4 faulty pipes and everything was still cool.

    Rivatuner V2 15.2 Unlock the 6800 series

I tried it today with my eVGA 6800. I got bad artifacting when I did both, but I was able to at least gain use of the extra vertex pipeline without any problems. Got an extra couple hundred on 3DMark03, so I'll take what I can get. Getting up to 16 pixel pipelines would have been sweet, but ya...

    ATI 9600 256 MB for $110?

He's not going to see a much of an upgrade going from a 4200Ti to whatever he can find for $100.

    Getting a 6800nu...but what brand?

I like my eVGA. I don't why but it feels like I've heard more bad things about PNY than other brands.

    Athlon64 3200+ for $208 w/ Free Shopping

You call that a deal? It's $192 also with 2-3 day Fedex at GameVE.

    I am T0rN ~

Any gains from PCI-E are all theoretical at this point.

AMD Athlon 64 3000 Temp Question

I'd invest in a better heatsink. My Newcastle 3200+ is running at 37C even overclocked as I have it running at 2.4ghz with an SLK-948U.

    3500+, massive air cooling OC

Don't just put all your stock in 3DMark01 testing. You really should run Prime95 for at least a few hours.

Ultra 500w modular PSU $99 zipzoomfly free 2nd day

Even if it's lower than other places, there's no way I'd spend $100 on a PSU brand I've never heard of.

    6800nu to 6800GT/Ultra BIOS Flashing?

I definitely don't think it's worth it. There's a good chance those 4 extra pipelines are defective. I'd rather wait and try the pipeline unlocking with the next version of RivaTuner.
