Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
i'm assuming you are talking about this: http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-Dual-Link-DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-USB-Powered.html
had no idea they were making a new one. thanks for the rec. now i just have to decide if i want to spend $200 on that and use the gtx 285 i have, or sell the 285...
i was under the impression the adapters didn't do anything over 1920... is that the case with yours? I already have a Gefen adapter but I didn't think it would work because of the conversion limitation.
thank you for posting this. i just got the mid 2010 iMac 27 and am going to do the same thing. i almost bought a card that wouldn't have worked but then someone in another thread pointed me this way. i appreciate your research! did you get the one from newegg for $499? i can't find it cheaper...
wow. this is kind of a big deal and i appreciate you pointing it out since i had not seen it. this is exactly what i want to do and if it will only display 1280 then that's just not going to work. the GTX 285 is on eBay and ends friday, which is fine. if i have to wait a little while for a card...
thanks for the detail. i'm not really much for OC'ing myself, just playing the games! i'm now thinking of getting a 1GB 5870 like you said, and many others above. it seems like i will see no difference with the 2GB memory.
i see that this card gets great reviews and is in the high $300s, so...
yeah i don't really know. that's why i was asking for rec's... also the monitor in my sig is actually 1920, but the monitor i will be using with this video card is a 27" imac with mini-displayport input.
thanks for the tip about the open box MissJ... $375 sounds pretty good for that card.
yeah i would love a 5870 2GB but didn't really want to spend a 5 spot. maybe I will anyway, not sure. my auction for the 285 ends this weekend so i will see what kinda of scratch i'm working with at that point and pull the trigger on whatever I can afford.
thanks again for the feedback
thanks for the recs guys... it seems hard to find a 2GB 5850 anywhere. the sapphire one seems like one of the only 2GB 5850 models... I'll see what I can come up with!
I recently purchased a 27" mid-2010 iMac for some photography stuff that i am doing in Aperture. the 27"ers support mini displayport input from any DP or mini-DP source. I also have a Core i7 tower from iBuyPower that i love and play games on that has an eVGA GTX 285 2gb in it.
I can run the...
yeah good point. part of the reason i got the 920 though was to OC it since it seems to be a good chip for that. i don't mind them not covering it at that point, and wouldn't expect them to. i just meant that for any normal buyer, a 3 year warranty, lifetime phone support, and the fact that you...
Just wanted to give some feedback about the order I placed and the computer I received from iBuyPower this month.
I placed an order for a new machine on July 10th, just got it yesterday July 24. I was a little concerned because my order status on the website was stuck on "CC approved" for...
Been using this card for a while. Great card, no problems. Don't need to get into the details with this crowd. Here is the page:
