Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
The Logitech Harmony remote I am using works well with my Microsoft IR receiver. However, it is just emulating the commands of a MCE remote. I would think as long as the device has the right software, the MS receiver would just pass the info along, so to speak...
To clarify, if you have digital cable, a PC TV Tuner will not tune any digital stations (over 99 for me, maybe higher else where). ATI has just come out with one that does have CableCARD support, but it is still testing and destined for OEM's only.
To get 'digital' channels from your cable...
It depends on your current component configuration, but for long term usability, I'd save up and get the IR receiver. Then you can have a true 'seamless' home theater experience using an all-in-one remote.
Of course 1080i on my HDTV makes text (other than MCE's) unreadable, so I don't use a...
If you want the 'encrypted' or digital channels on your PVR box, then you'll need another cable box. If you just want the regular stations, (non-digital, under channel 99 for me w/ TimeWarner), then you'll just need a cable splitter before the cable box to get a fresh line to your PVR tuner.
The only way I know to get the Microsoft IR receiver/blaster is to buy the remote combo. That being said, it is still cheaper ($30) than getting a USB-UIRT. Most other combos won't save you much money.
My sticks are running great in the rig detailed in my sig. The rebate is another story. They claim I didn't send the packaging receipt in... I contacted ZZF and they offered to fax me a copy of the invoice, hopefully that will work. I swear I sent two peices of paper, invoice and rebate...
Note on the $40 rebate from ZZF...
The top part of the rebate form specifies the "original UPC code from the memory module box". Yet, in the fine print under "Terms and Conditions" specifies "the original UPC code from the anti-static bag that your memory came in".
The regular box UPC...
I wouldn't leave the 550 out of consideration. It is an updated version of the 520. I like the button layout and general appearance better than the other Harmony remotes. I couldn't justify the 880's price tag at the time (although $130 isn't bad at all), but I don't regret my purchase...
a 5% zerex solution put made my tygon go cloudy starting about 4 weeks after install, and then an odd 'orange' color. this picture is after about a year.
a previous mix of ~10% water wetter turned the clear flex I had to opaque in days.
water wetter is know to screw up your tubing, stay...
