I have been running memtest86 for 10 straight hours and not a single error over 14 passes with both sticks in there. so i guess no sporadic fires to worry about in the future when i'm not home.
btw, how do i make sure that my motherboard is pristine? any special test for that?
my ram was defective because I kept getting the blue screen (bsod). So I swapped it. When I installed the ram, I didnt realize that I didnt fully insert the ram into the board (stupid!). When I turned on the computer, it immediately started smoking. I held the power button to shut it down. i...
thanks for your help. i appreciate it.
sometimes when we choose what psu, people say to focus on amps on the rails (& efficiency of course) rather than just total wattage so i confused that concept here.
all is good then!
lol, i was worried about the amps. if the psu is capable of 17 amps and this cord can do only 10 amps...is that a problem during peak loads? :D also with a psu, people around here suggest using ~40-60% psu max load for best efficiency / safety..should i try the same with cords and get something...
i have e6600 2.4 ghz core 2 duo. no overclock. ati 4770 gpu. asus pf5-e wifi mobo. 1 dvd-rw drive + 1 hard drive.
antec earthwatts 500. iirc this puppy is supposed to do 17 amps on two rails. is the ampage on my cord too low? i'm sure these are cheap so i can replace them anyway but i'd like...
i have a 360 and i'll tell you to keep the ps3 and ditch the 360.
however...360 was $86 (dunno how much gift card) whereas the ps3 is 3x price...that's not negligible
but for a casual gamer / media center guy - ps3 is the way to go. plus you don't have to pay for xbox live when you only...
seems like i got lucky on ebay...new in the box, made in germany, compaq 11800 for $20. one of the best computer purchases i've ever made. i really like cherry browns. they feel stiff when new but once you break them in...very tactile, fast, and responsive. i like it better than my ibm model...
i don't know the specifics of tf2 but remember that whether your bottleneck is (1) cpu or (2) gpu (3) crappy game coding depends on the game itself. some games like bfbc2 use 4 cores so even if you have a nice gpu on a dual core, you'll be disappointed with performance. other games like modern...
so i had to rma the 2gb crucial ballstic kit because of the bsod. i accidentally replaced by 2 sticks of 1gb with 2 sticks of 2gb so now i have 4gb. the most i use with all my programs open + cod4 is 2.3 GB. the new ram is pretty quiet. maybe the previous one was noisy because it was defective...
my opinion on video card purchasing: don't plan for the future. prices are dynamic and new products always come out. so just get what you need for now. for the same reasons, i always go bang for the buck. dx11 is out but as some have pointed out already, how many games fully utilize dx10...
i love my 4770. as a 40 nm process it's power efficient, runs cool, and packs a lot of power for the price. these are the top 3 qualities i look for in my card. drivers have never given me problems. but not everyone thinks like me or has the same preference (unfortunately - jk lol).
since you...
^^^ well i'm not exactly sure how they work but sometimes i'll get a fedex home delivery truck deliver my package whereas othertimes i'll get a truck from a rental company like ryder. it seems to me that in your local area it is the fedex driver but it does vary from region.
